2020 has been a tough year for everyone but for those of us in the wedding industry work has ground to a stop. Since March 2020 95% of weddings either cancelled or were moved back to 2022 onwards.

I myself am on the government's clinically vulnerable list as a long-term diabetic type 1. Type 1 diabetics are at a much higher risk of severe complications or death from the virus so when Covid-19 was confirmed at my daughter's school we had no choice but to remove her and home school for the 2 week isolation period recommended by the government, to try to minimise the risk of her bringing the virus home.

My daughter's headmistress reported us to the authorities who have now issued both myself and my wife a fine. I wish to bring this to the courts so they can recognise that parents who are listed on the government's clinically vulnerable list should not be fined and should be allowed to home school if they choose, to protect the lives of vulnerable family members.

As my work has been almost non-existent this year and with it not being safe enough to find alternative employment with case and death numbers climbing again, we need your help to put our case in court and for this to be recognised as parents protecting their children from a deadly virus and not truancy.

We have heard today we could face fines of up to £2500 or if left unpaid 3 months in prison.

Thank you.
