Joseph Araneta Funeral Fund

For those of you that may not have heard the incredibly sad news. One of the best people I have ever had the privilege and honour of knowing has left us to be with his ina at ama in heaven.

Joey Araneta was taken into hospital after testing  positive for Covid, and sadly passed away in the early hours of 03/01/21. He fought hard to hold onto life and his dying wish was to get home to his beloved Emy and son Miguel.

Unfortunately, following previous heart problems that some of you might know about, it seems his heart was not at full strength and despite all of his will and the efforts of hospital staff to resuscitate him, he died.

Joey was the kindest, most loving, thoughtful, and generous person anyone could ever wish to meet and it is the most unfair thing that he has been taken from us at such an early age.

He was an amazing uncle to my kids, brother to my wife, friend to me, not to mention, a caring father and husband.

I will miss having him turning up on my doorstep unannounced with Longanisa or some other Filipino delicacy, when he would just jump on his bike and cycle over the hill, just because he loved us. I'll miss the times he would knock on our door in the early hours of the morning after falling asleep on the train on the way home from work.

He was a better man than me and showed me how to love your family like a Filipino. I will never forget him and I will thank God every day for allowing me to know him and spend my life with his ever loving sister.

Joey's passing came as a massive shock to us all and we still haven't quite come to terms with it. As such, we find ourselves unprepared for arranging and paying for a funeral that best befits such a special person. Some very kind family and friends have offered to help with the funeral costs and I am setting this website up to allow you to do just this. Not only will the help be invaluable in paying for the right send off for Joey, but it will also go a long way to helping Emy and Miguel get back on their feet, now that Joey isn't bringing home the bacon.

Please feel free to give as little or as much as you can in the knowledge that you will be helping us to say goodbye to him in the best way possible, and in caring for Emy and Miguel in the difficult times ahead.

I know that this would be the most important thing to Joey and he might rest more peacefully knowing that they are being looked after in some way by people who loved him.
