Help our mum Sandra fight against MND

Donation protected
My Dad, Sister and I have set up this page for our much loved, amazing Mum Sandra Craig.
Our mum, even at the age of 67 has to be the most physically fit mum EVER .
Mum loves to take the dogs long walks in between still working and caring for my Dad .  Mum did retire but they loved her so much they desperately asked her back, so she works a few days a week to help them out .

Around summer this year mum noticed she was losing her voice and was hoarse at times . The first thought especially this year was "could it be Covid-19 causing this " but it seemed to settle a bit . Mum then started to feel dizzy and her speech started being affected and she was slurring her words and felt as though her throat was being restricted and after much pushing from us she made an appointment with the doctor .  The doctors were puzzled and arranged a battery of tests, including an endoscopy and blood tests etc.  The endoscopy showed no tumours or obstructions in the throat so we were all ecstatic at this news .

Mum then suddenly developed an onset of choking when eating or drinking and really struggling to breath when on her feet .  Her gp advised us to take her to hospital to get her checked out properly.   Tests were carried out and they advised she would have to see a neurologist consultant a few days later, so they kept her in hospital for this .

On Friday 4th December 2020 our family was delivered a devastating blow the worst news we could have ever imagined - our Mum, our superwoman who could do anything was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) you cannot understand the fear, stomach churning agony that we experienced hearing this diagnosis. In a second our world had been torn apart . Our poor dad Brian, who at 70 has had 40+ years of torture with rheumatoid arthritis and all that diagnosis brought with it was broken .

Tragically and suddenly our beloved brother, Brian Craig passed away at the tender age of 19.  Mum's heart was broken that day and she struggled to be able to deal with' normal 'life again following this tragedy and decided to change her job from working in a bank to dedicating her life to care for others .  This has been her calling for 20+ years now, thus showing the huge and loving personality of this woman who will stand up and fight for anyone who needs or deserves it .  The pain at the loss of Brian in Mum's heart has never really healed yet she always puts a smile on her face and is there to help anyone who asks .

Mum is the rock we all cling to when we are ill.  Mum is our superwoman who is always there when we are sick, sore, when we want to vent or simply when we just need her .  The thought of our lives not involving this amazing woman makes us physically sick to our stomachs .

We have the opportunity to try to slow down the progression of this horrible unforgiving disease and this can only happen if we can aid her in getting to Mexico for groundbreaking medical assistance in the form of stem cell treatment .  Unfortunately this treatment cannot be funded by the NHS as the procedure cannot be performed in the UK.  We are therefore asking for help and support to help get mum this treatment in Mexico .

Our family appreciate that during this desperate year other families are struggling but we would be eternally grateful if anyone could help mum by donating to our gofundme please .

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this .  Nicola , Dawn and Brian xxxx
