Join Stevie in his fight against Cancer

I’m Karen White, this story is not about me, it’s about my older brother Stevie Pearson who is only 59 years old. and has stage 4 Liver Cancer.
To try and explain why i started this page, let me give you some of Stevie’s recent history and try to tell you what kind of person he is.

Stevie worked in a nursing home in Aberdeen and where he had been living for over 15 years. At that time our elderly parents where struggling living on their own due to both having Dementia. Our family were very concerned and after discussion Stevie  decided to leave Aberdeen and become their full time carer, Like most caring roles it was very demanding. After  2 years of care giving we lost our Mum in May 2018 and shortly after we also lost our father.
  
Stevie became very unwell in July 2019, he was taken to hospital where he received emergency surgery to remove a tumour from his small intestine, this tumour proved to be cancerous, after his
recovery he was referred to an Oncologist at the Beetson Cancer Centre Glasgow. He was told then the cancer had spread to his liver and he now had Stage 4 cancer. How he remained strong throughout this time was pretty amazing and he showed great courage and tenacity.

Next step was to start his Chemotherapy and  he was put on his first course of Chemotherapy which he completed by May 2020.  He started his 2 round of Chemotherapy on November 2020 but
his health had taken a turn for the worse, Chemo was delayed until his health picked up.

At the last appointment with the Oncologist he was told due to his health still being poor Chemotherapy would not be an option for him going forward. He was told all they could do for him was pain management and to keep him comfortable.


I realised without an alternative plan we would have to  watch him slip away and I was not prepared to do that so I did some research and discovered Proton Therapy Treatment which is a highly
promising treatment available only through private health care. We found out that a Personalised treatment plan using Proton Therapy would cost approximately £80,000 pounds.

We are currently in communication with a clinic in Prague to begin Proton Therapy Treatment which we hope will extend his life expectancy giving him a better quality of life.

My decision to start a Go Fund Me Page will hopefully allow treatment to proceed immediately and give him some hope for a better life.
